In a lavish display of pomp and circumstance, King Charles III and Queen Camilla were crowned in a historic ceremony on Saturday, marking a new era for the British monarchy.

The couple has come a long way since their marriage in 2005. At the time, Camilla was viewed with skepticism by many due to her affair with Charles while he was still married to Princess Diana. However, Camilla's popularity has grown significantly over the years, and she is now widely accepted as the King's consort.

The coronation ceremony took place at Westminster Abbey, the traditional site of royal coronations for centuries. The service was attended by hundreds of dignitaries from around the world, including Prime Minister Rishi Sunak and US President Joe Biden.

The ceremony was steeped in tradition and symbolism. King Charles was anointed with holy oil and presented with the Sovereign's Orb and Sceptre, symbols of his authority. Queen Camilla was also crowned and presented with a smaller orb and sceptre.

After the ceremony, the King and Queen appeared on the balcony of Buckingham Palace, where they were greeted with cheers from the crowd. The couple then embarked on a carriage procession through the streets of London, waving to the cheering crowds.
