Alexander Zverev has given an honest verdict on his chances at the upcoming French Open, vowing to exact revenge in Paris two years after suffering a career-threatening injury at Roland-Garros.
The German, who triumphed at the Italian Open on Sunday, is one of the most in-form players heading into this year's tournament. He reached the semi-finals of the Rome Masters, where he was defeated by eventual champion Novak Djokovic.
Speaking after his victory in Rome, Zverev said he is confident of making a deep run at the French Open.
"I'm feeling good about my game right now," said Zverev. "I've been playing well all year, and I'm confident that I can do well in Paris."
Zverev has a score to settle with the French Open. In 2022, he suffered a horrific ankle injury in the semi-finals against Rafael Nadal, which kept him out of action for several months.
The German is determined to put that disappointment behind him and make a statement in Paris this year.
"I'm going to go there and give it my all," said Zverev. "I want to win the French Open, and I believe that I can do it."
Zverev will be one of the favorites for the title when the French Open begins on May 28.
