Alexander Zverev Wins Masters Title in Rome
Zverev Defeats Jarry for Sixth Masters 1000 Victory
German Moves Up to No. 4 in World Rankings
Alexander Zverev has captured his sixth Masters 1000 title at the Internazionali BNL d'Italia in Rome. The German defeated first-time Masters 1000 finalist Nicolas Jarry 6-4, 7-5 in the championship match.
Zverev's victory marks his second title in Rome, having previously won the tournament in 2017. With this latest triumph, he has now moved up to No. 4 in the ATP world rankings.
Jarry, ranked No. 44 in the world coming into the tournament, made history by becoming the first Chilean player to reach an ATP Masters 1000 final. Despite his valiant effort, he was unable to overcome the experience and firepower of Zverev.
In his post-match interview, Zverev praised Jarry's performance and expressed his delight at winning the title. "Today was a tough match, but I'm really happy to have come out on top," said Zverev. "Nicolas played incredibly well, and I had to fight hard for every point."
Zverev's victory in Rome is a major boost for the German as he prepares for the upcoming French Open. The second Grand Slam tournament of the year begins on May 27, and Zverev is now considered one of the favorites to challenge for the title.
